Former Real Madrid, Arsenal and Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil announced his retirement from football on Wednesday (22/3/2023), at aged 34.
Ozil has confirmed he has retired from football with immediate effect. The former Arsenal midfielder had been playing for Turkish top flight side Istanbul Basaksehir, since joining inthe summer but only made seven appearances for the club following injury problems.
Ozil won 92 caps for his country and was part of Germany's World Cup-winning squad in 2014.
He won the Spanish League title with Real Madrid in 2012 before moving to Arsenal and then on to fenerbahce and basaksehir in Turkey.
