Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is defending the company he helped start after allegations that it prioritized profits over safety. The former Facebook employee turned whistleblower Frances Haugen testified before the U.S. Congress accusing the social media giant of endangering children and fueling division.

The ex-Facebook data scientist who leaked thousands of internal documents claimed the company failed to make changes to Instagram after internal research showed apparent harm to teens and has been dishonest in its public fight against hate and misinformation. Haugen also urged lawmakers for stricter government oversight to stop the dangers that Facebook poses.
